Grants to Utah nonprofit organizations and businesses for environmental projects. New applicants must register with the application portal prior to applying. Funding is intended for the implementation of creative solutions to improving air quality and addressing water conservation.

Applicants should identify specific targets and benchmarks that align with the expected outcomes:

  • Air pollutant emissions reduction projects
    • Control or capture emissions and air pollutants
    • New technology or processes that reduce or eliminate air pollutant emissions
    • Reductions in fuel usage for transportation or combustion that result in lower air pollutant emissions
    • Describe the current air pollutant emissions rate and what are the expected future emissions reductions in tons per year
    • The geographic area impacted by the emissions reduction project
  • Water conservation projects
    • Clearly identify the reduction of water use in gallons
    • Efficiencies maintained or improved while reducing water usage
  • The extent to which the project offers a strategic and innovative solution to achieve the expected outcomes
  • How the business entity intends to achieve the expected outcomes
  • How the business envisions coordinating or partnering with the applicable agency in implementing the project
  • Identify if the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute at the University of Utah, the Institute of Land, Water, and Air at Utah State University, or the Bingham Research Center at Utah State University would be best suited to evaluate the proposed project.

Projects must be completed no later than July 1, 2026.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The grant is available to for-profit and nonprofit businesses registered with the Utah Division of Corporations and Commercial Code (if required) that have a physical location in the state.
