Grants to Salt Lake County, Utah large cultural, botanical, and arts organizations to enhance the state's recreational, cultural, and arts offerings. Funding is intended for projects and programs with professional staff that will aid the state's economic development by attracting outside visitors. Funded activities must be available to all Salt Lake County residents and visitors.

The Zoo, Arts and Parks (ZAP) Program provides funding for twenty-two large cultural organizations under Tier I.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Tier I funding is available to 501(c)3 organizations with three-year qualifying expenditures averaging $367,200. Applicants must be an arts, botanical, or cultural organization with the main office in Salt Lake County.

Organizations are required to have 3 years of audited financial statements.

Pre-proposal Conference:

Applicants should plan to attend an application workshop offered by ZAP staff annually. The workshop will give you an overview of the application, an opportunity to ask questions and a hands-on start to filling out your application.

2020 Tier I and Zoological Application Workshop
In-person workshops will be held at the Salt Lake County Government Center (2001 S State Street, Salt Lake City, UT 84190) on Tuesday, March 27, 2019 from 3:00 - 5:00 PM and April 4, 2019 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM. Space is limited, so please RSVP as soon as possible to save your seat.

- Review by Volunteer Advisory Board: May to August 2019
- Advisory Board Recommendations: September to October 2019
- County Council Approval: October 2019*
- Contracting: November 2019*

If your organization is eligible, and you've attended an application workshop, it's time to apply for funding. The Tier I & Zoological Application will open mid-February and must be submitted online through ZoomGrants by May 17, 2019 at 3:00 PM. When you first sign into ZoomGrants, please make sure you create a username and password. Once you have login information, you can begin your application.

Applications are carefully reviewed by the Tier I Advisory Board. The board makes funding recommendations to the County Council. Once the County Council approves the funding recommendations, ZAP staff will invite the recommended organizations to sign contracts. The percentage of funding each organization receives is based on qualifying expenditures. This process takes almost a full year.
