First Peoples Fund
Grants of up to $5,000 to USA individuals affiliated with a Native American tribe for art projects that will preserve and strengthen the tribe's culture. The grant program will provide recipients with both financial and technical support. Recipients will be offered tools, resources, and capital to build on their one-of-a-kind cultural contributions while also uncovering previously unrealized cultural potential.
Grant recipients have access to a large network of artists on the local and national levels. Eligible artists receive individualized technical assistance and professional development guidance, as well as working capital funds to offer artists an opportunity to delve deeper into their art – sharing their artistry with all who want to learn.
Artists should also:
- Share a commitment to passing on ancestral knowledge and practices within their communities.
- Have a plan to document their ancestral knowledge for future generations.
- Seek ways to sustain culture sharing as a way of life within their tribal community.
