Description:

Opportunity for Utah community-based organizations, residents, neighborhood business district organizations, and neighborhood groups to submit proposals for capital improvements in eligible regions. Examples of eligible projects include the rehabilitation, design, purchase, and construction of transportation, parks, sidewalks, buildings, traffic signals, streets, bridges, and other physical structures. Eligible projects are those that benefit residents of Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City’s Capital Improvement Program (CIP) is a multi-year planning program of capital expenditures needed to replace or expand the City’s public infrastructure. In other words, CIP pays for big projects like parks, public buildings, and street projects.

A capital improvement must have a useful life of five or more years. It also must provide one of the following two elements: has a minimum cost of $50,000 and a maximum cost of $500,000 and satisfies the functionality of a capital asset.

Constituent Request Application Criteria:

  • The capital project must have a cost estimate of between $50,000 and $500,000 (for city infrastructure projects, cost estimates must be performed by Salt Lake City’s Engineering Division)
  • The capital project must have a useful life of 5 or more years
  • The capital project must be a Salt Lake City-owned asset
  • Community Outreach or Alternative Public Engagement is required
